One of the most important Austrian-Slovenian authors today, writing in German and Slovene, will be reading and discussing her work, which encompasses poetry, essays, translations and fiction.

Maja Haderlap won the highly prestigious Bachmann prize in 2011 for her debut novel Engel des Vergessens (Angel of Forgetting). It tells the poignant story of a family from the Carinthian Slovenian population of Austria against the backdrop of the minority’s resistance against National Socialism.

Maja Haderlap is an accomplished author born in Eisenkappel (Austria). She studied theatre studies and German at the University of Vienna. From 1992 to 2007 she was Head of Dramaturgy at the Municipal Theatre of Klagenfurt.
