Fine weather made for a perfect day out at the British-Slovene Society’s annual picnic in Henley-on-Thames on 28th July. A particularly large crowd of friends and guests gathered around the traditional Slovene hayrack (kozolec). Everybody brought fine food and drink to share (delicious cherries and strawberries!). Children improvised a cricket pitch, raced after balls, threw quoits, and clambered over the hayrack.
Distinguished guests included Sanja Štiglic, Slovenia’s Ambassador in the U.K. (accompanied by Špela Vrbnjak from the Embassy), and Councillor Ian Reissmann, Mayor of Henley. Evelina Ferrar, Chairwoman of the British-Slovene Society, presided over the merry-making, supported by Trustees Andrej Ogorevc, Graham Soult, John Dawton and Marcus Ferrar.
